Below
is a brief history of our Club
Lee United Football Club was founded in May 2001, and is
based in Lee, South London. The Club is
affiliated to the London Football Association and
are members of the Bexley and District Junior
Football League. The Club participates in
competetive matches within this League and runs
training sessions for both registered and
unregistered players.
Our aim is to create a fun and enjoyable
environment for youngsters to learn not only
about playing football, but also to understand
the values of good sportsmanship.
In our first season, being the 2001/02
season, the Club had 2 teams made up of 22
registered players. These played at Under 10 and
Under 11 within the Bexley League playing
Mini-Soccer. Last season we had a new
under 9 team join the Club and this together
with the progression of our under 11's and under
12's moving to 11-A-Side football brought our
playing members up to 43 for the 2002/03 season.
All three teams were crowned Champions with the Under 9's
winning the B West Division, the Under 11's winning
the A Division and the Under 12's winning the C East
Division. Now looking to the 2003/04 season we will
retain the 3 teams again this season.
Although the number of teams may further increase
our main concern is not for growth, but for the
wellbeing of the players who are committed to the
Club. This is not to say that the club will not
form more teams, but this is not our primary aim.
